Job Purpose

  • Under the direct supervision and the guidance of the Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) Program Manager, the Programme Officer (Reporting) will support the British Red Cross FSL program to generate and maintain the program’s information and communication needs in a timely, effective and efficient manner.
  • He / she will be working closely with the different National Societies of the Sahel in order to enable the NS to improve their reporting and communication capacities.

Primary responsibilities :

  • Support reporting review from partners ensuring quality of reports and providing regular mentorship and guidance to partners;

  • Provide administrative and logistic support to the Sahel FSL Programme, in collaboration with the FSL Programme Manager (also based in Dakar).

  • Ensure effective management of the Sahel FSL program information, ensuring information on the BRC’s Programme Information Management System (PIMS) is updated

  • Support the Programme Manager with effective coordination between a range of programme partners across multiple countries including Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, Mauritania and Chad.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Quality Reporting :

  • Follow up and regular update the reporting planning of the Sahel FSL programme;

  • Provide critical inputs and analysis into draft reporting submitted from partners;

  • Provide regular mentorship and guidance to partners to ensure quality reporting;

  • Review quality of final reports;

  • Support the development of documentation of the FSL programme, including beneficiaries’ case stories, success stories, lessons learnt and research to ensure visibility and to augment the impact of both programmes’ efforts

  • Support on the elaboration of internal and external reports linked to the Sahel FSL Programme as required;

  • Contribute to monitoring and evaluation activities as requested;

Administrative and Logistics support

  • Ensure timely and effective handling of financial administration, including drafting of grant agreements, arranging transfers of funds to, and consolidation of financial information from BRC partners;

  • Prepare and distribute minutes of the coordination meetings;

Information Management

  • Ensure effective management of the Sahel FSL Programme information, ensuring information on the BRC’s Programme Information Management System (PIMS) is updated, in collaboration with UK-based colleagues

  • Ensure that project documents and reports are well stored or archived and collected data are safely protected, aligned with data protection policies within BRC

  • Ensure the confidentiality of collected data and information aligned with BRC policy.

  • Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the line manager


  • University degree in Literature, Journalism, Communication, International Studies (humanitarian studies will be much appreciated) or relevant field is required


  • A minimum of two years of demonstrated experience in related work in reporting on program implementation and results;

  • Experience working with an international development organization and knowledge of reporting procedures

Knowledge, Skills and Language

  • Proven literacy in software relevant for Programme Management purposes: MS Project or similar project management software, Excel, PowerPoint, Word

  • Excellent writing and synthesis skills and good knowledge of program writing in order to write quality technical reports and to contribute to the development of programs in relation to the function

  • Ability to take initiative, sense of organization and rigour

  • Analytical skills

  • Ability to wok under pressure

  • Fluenty spoken and written French

  • Fluency in English is desirable but not essential
