Greenpeace International (GPI) is looking for an IT Director to take responsibility for all aspects of the core IT systems that support the needs of our global organisation, amplifying the power of change agents and enabling the entire Greenpeace network to win campaigns faster.

Leading on IT strategy development, planning and implementation of global IT systems, you’ll be facilitating the technology infrastructure and related organisational processes for the realisation of our Digital Transformation ambition, reporting to the Chief Technology Officer. Your responsibilities will include managing employees within the IT function, liaising with other departments and with all National and Regional Offices (NROs) to ascertain their technological requirements, and providing solutions that are aligned with the organisation’s objectives.

In this role you will:

·         Support the development and realisation of the overall Greenpeace IT operations infrastructure, including proposing strategic solutions and recommending new software and systems.

·         Direct the design, acquisition, management and implementation of a network-wide supported technology infrastructure.

·         Liaise with all departments and NROs to understand and translate needs into short- and long-term IT

·         plans in alignment with strategies, goals, plans, opportunities, operating requirements and efficiencies.

·         Provide leadership to all IT staff and functions of GPI, Greenpeace ships and NROs.

·         Work with the GPI Strategy and Management Team, direct reports, partners and peers to support the

·         delivery of the organisation’s Digital Transformation ambition.

·         Ensure continuous delivery of IT services to GPI, NROs and Greenpeace ships according to defined SLAs.

·         Manage, rationalise and simplify the IT products, systems and service catalogue.

·         Approve, prioritise and direct the IT project portfolio to optimise costs, risks and benefits.

·         Establish and enforce IT policies, decision making processes, best practices and standards.

·         Recruit, develop, coach, motivate and retain highly qualified global IT management and specialists.

·         Promote and oversee strategic relationships between internal IT resources, NROs and vendors.

·         Build good working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders within and outside the organisation.

·         Ensure engagement and awareness of technology benefits and risks at senior leadership levels.

·         Create and maintain a world class support team and processes.

·         Ensure training, learning and support programmes are set up and provided for all staff.

·         Develop the IT budget, monitor performance and identify opportunities to get better value for money.

Job requirements

What we’re looking for:

·         Substantial relevant experience, including senior IT management-leadership, gained in an international/global organisational.

·         A clear vision on the role of IT and Digital Transformation in organisations.

·         Experience of supporting the design, management and implementation of technology infrastructure.

·         Substantial experience in building effective teams and/or a proven record of good people management.

·         Track record of collaborative management and robust coaching to enable growth within a department.

·         High degree of awareness and sensitivity towards inclusivity and collaboration in a multicultural environment.

·         Strong negotiation, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to make complex technical information accessible to a range of audiences.

·         Proven success in building strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

·         Sound understanding of compliance with relevant law and regulations, whilst minimising bureaucracy.

·         Ability to identify and mitigate risk.

·         Proven experience in financial and budget management.

·         Fluency in English, both verbal and written.
