Role Purpose
The Site Technical Manager is steering all the technical functions across all business/service units on site. He is responsible to provide technical services for project engineering, maintenance technology and process technology (including PCT) across all operating units on site; Chairs the site technical management team, including the development of strategies and action plans on technical matters. Represents the technical function across all business/service units on site.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
Plans and executes, directs and supervises the technical activities and functions on the site in order to meet the objectives as agreed with the site manager; assists the plant manager in evaluating and achieving plant performance goals related to capacity, operability/ availability, economy, integrity, quality, health, safety, and environment
Develops, implements, and monitors the plant maintenance/turn-around activities/strategy, action plan and budget
Plans, executes, and monitors basic budget/larger plant investments participates/assists in larger/major investments
Installs an efficient technical organization, empowers employees and fosters cooperation and teamwork
Establishes an efficient and transparent cost and asset management
Takes responsibility for high reliability of the site‘s assets
Takes responsibility for excellence in planning and execution of large investments and turn-arounds
Manages technical integrity, i.e. assures compliance with legal rules and technical regulations as well as statutes of the companies; co-ordinates and assures uniformity in technical standards and technical operations on site
Identifies, evaluates, and implements knowledge and good practice transfer
Takes responsibility for improving process technologies continuously & Takes responsibility for an effective plant technical team, empowers its members, and fosters their cooperation
Pro-actively participates in experience exchange and knowledge transfer between the site technical managers and Pro-actively participates in a working group of the Bayer Technology Committee
Takes responsibility for troubleshooting asset and process problems and - Takes responsibility for creating and maintaining plant technical documentation
Further develops the site master plan
Represents the Company in respective national industry associations if needed
Supports the negotiations or negotiates contracts with the providers of site technical services
Proposes and conducts initiatives and tools for continuous improvement
Has responsibility for people development in the site's technology community and for exchange of talents across sites.
Assures compliance with technical rules and regulations as well as with company policies, statutes, and operational excellence practices
Takes responsibility for creating and maintaining plant technical documentation
Identifies, evaluates, and implements knowledge and good practice transfer between plant technicians and electricians on site
Manages the plant’s Projects according to approved Capex.

Supports HSE Technical topics
Experiences, skills and Qualifications
University degree in an engineering discipline (BSc or advanced) or another appropriate scientific discipline or advanced education at least 5 years combined experience in engineering and/or manufacturing; proven track record of working in project and/or maintenance management (including turn-around) roles within the chemical industry
International or at least working experience at different sites/TKs are beneficial
Profound knowledge in external (and Bayer) technical best practices and standards
Strong and proven technical and economical competencies
Very good communication and advanced project management skills
Excellent and proven leadership skills, ability to steer and motivate a multidisciplinary/ complex/ multinational team
Very good understanding of supporting processes associated with operations and maintenance of a plant/site
Proven negotiation skills
Very good knowledge of engineer tools and skills in technical software
Local language as well as fluent English (oral and written) skills
