Job Description

Role

The Brand Manager plays a significant role in developing and implementing Brand Plans that incorporate all facets of the marketing mix to ensure that BIC and Lucky brands’ annual sales volume and profit goals are achieved in respective West Africa countries

  • Monitors Stationery, Lighter & Shaver sales volumes, market conditions, market share trends and competitive data.
  • Based on cascaded strategy for BIC in West Africa, recommends, develops, and implements ATL and end-consumer BTL activities once validated to meet BIC’s Stationery, Lighter & Shaver and Lucky objectives in West Africa, within approved annual budget and in compliance with BIC internal processes.
  • Analyzes and compares results of defined Stationery, Lighter & Shaver objectives to ensure the effectiveness and profitability of marketing initiatives.

Main Responsibilities / Tasks

  • Recommends, develops, and implements consistent Annual Marketing Plans to build and grow BIC Stationery, Lighter & Shaver categories in West Africa and Lucky Brand in Nigeria.
  • Manage the marketing activities for BIC Stationery, Lighter & Shaver, which also imply directing external agencies in the creation and execution of the initiatives.
  • Write internal and agencies briefs for marketing activities (activations, promotions, local marketing developments, market researches).
  • Develop and analyze reports and demonstrate an understanding of the market, competitors, and target consumers.
  • Communicate price analysis reports at agreed frequencies.
  • Identify key issues, trends, and opportunities to increase market share and creatively help in growing the business.
  • Monitor and recommend the Stationery, Lighter & Shaver marketing budgets.
  • Control distributors debit notes for marketing spends.
  • Update marketing budgets per country on a monthly basis.
  • Assist WA Senior Manager Marketing in:

                         Recruiting, selecting, orienting, and appraising agencies

                         Appraising WA Marketing initiatives by communicating on them via                                 Flash reports, Yammer, Newsletters…

                         Training of BIC / Distributors teams when needed.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS / KEY FIGURES

  • Stationery, Lighter & Shaver WA Sales Growth vs. BUD
  • Stationery, Lighter & Shaver WA Volume & Value Market Share
  • Results and ROI of key Stationery, Lighter & Shaver marketing initiatives (ATL, Digital & Social Media and Consumer Activations)
  • Meeting deadlines / Respecting timelines of Stationery, Lighter & Shaver Marketing plans and their executions
  • CMI (Consumer & Market Understanding) deployment
  • Respect of the Stationery, Lighter & Shaver budgets
  • Continuous interaction with the Line Manager, MEA Marketing team and local sales team

Qualifications

R – 3 to 5 years of Marketing experience in FMCG company or a similar industry (Preference for multinational work experience and reporting)

R – Marketing degree / diploma or equivalent - BAC+5

R – Speaks fluent English & French

R – Proficient in the use of MS Office including intermediate/advanced Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

R – Excellent presentation skills

R – Exposure to external agencies (creative, media, digital and activation agencies, print suppliers…)

D – An experience in Trade Marketing is also valuable

D – An experience / internship in advertising / communication agency or research agency is also valuable

D – Managerial experience and experience within the West African region is a significant plus.
